Meet the LAB Members
Mrs Michelle Hague
Chair of LAB/Parent Governor
I have been a parent Governor for 4 years and Chair of the Local Advisory Board since October 2019. I have always wanted my children to feel safe and secure at school and to be enthusiastic learners. I feel privileged to be a small part of the team who are ensuring that ALL the children at St Newlyn East, are well looked after, well educated and reaching their potential.
Mr Andy Watkins
Mrs Tania Findlay MBE
I am the Assistant Headteacher, Yr. 5 teacher and a KTSA Specialist Leader in Education for English-I lead literacy across the school. I have worked for the Trust since 2013 when I began my NQT year at St. Newlyn East Learning Academy. After two years here, I then when on to complete school improvement in other schools around the Trust-and the county- and returned to SNELA last year.
As a Staff LAB member, it is important that I contribute to whole school initiatives and development in a strategic way on behalf of the staff. I feel that being a LAB member gives me a great opportunity to do this whilst also seeing the bigger picture of school life. As the Assistant Head teacher, it is important to be able to explain and present ideas and thoughts of the Senior Leadership team to the LAB and to be held accountable for the results that those ideas may bring. I look forward to being an active and informative member.
Mrs Evey Evison
My name is Evey Evison and I have two children at the St Newlyn East Academy. I am currently the Headteacher of Blackwater Primary School and use my knowledge and skills from my job to and challenge support the leadership at St Newlyn East. I have a particular interest in the teaching of mathematics and the provision for Special Educational Needs and disadvantaged children.
Mrs Nicky Trestrail
I was invited by St Newlyn East Learning Academy to become a Governor in January 2019. I have been the Manager of the Pre school and After school club on the school site for twenty years, so I have good background knowledge of the local community.
My interests include Early years and emotional well-being. My free time is mainly spent outdoors.
Mr Phil Harris
I have lived in Mitchell village for 20yrs with my wife, Helen, and two sons, Finlay and Harry. I'm delighted to be part of the Board and look forward to working with the Trust, School members, Head Teacher and LAB colleagues in ensuring a broad and inclusive education is available and provided to all children. I have a particular interest in the school's physical activity programme and pupil behaviour with the aim of ensuring children of all abilities improve and thrive during their primary education.
