A Warm Welcome From

Andy Watkins

Welcome to our school website. We are delighted that you have taken the time to find out a little more about our school situated five miles from Newquay in a picturesque village location.

We know we are biased, but we think that our school is a special place to be – where children and adults flourish and thrive. Our aim is simply to ‘Build Excellence Together.’ Using the talents of our dedicated staff, families and other adults in our community, we support and challenge ALL of our pupils to strive for excellence in all they do. When you visit, watch out for the excellent behaviour and manners our children show – they really are a credit to the school and community. We are passionate about reading and support other schools in our Trust with this fundamental area of the primary curriculum.

We embrace our supportive Trust’s core shared values of 'strength', 'wisdom', and 'courage' to help us aim high in all that we do. Our Trust Philosophy of ‘work hard, be honest & help others’ sets our pupils on a destination to success in life. This also ties in well to our own ‘School Values Tree’ with our Golden Roots, developing our children’s strong moral character.

Our website will give you a peek at what life is like for our pupils and colleagues at St Newlyn East, but we would also love for you to visit and see our amazing team for yourself.

If you would like to visit our school, or if you have any queries, please contact our school office team on 01872 510407 or email

Our Ethos & Values

We love our school and being part of the St Newlyn East Learning Academy community. We are passionate about aiming to be the best we can be every day. Our Trust mission encompasses this… ‘Growing Excellence Together’

Our school values are underpinned by our Golden Roots as we believe that if you can listen, be kind and you are honest then learning can take place.

Our curriculum vision is as follows:

  • Growing a passion for reading and ensuring new vocabulary is ‘the beating heart of our lessons.’ Engaging narratives act as the driving force to underpin knowledge retention

  • Excellence for ALL children, where equity, high aspiration and full participation

  • Question- led/ curiosity-linked learning: we want to inspire knowledge-hungry learners who love to ask questions, learn new things and persevere in learning and life
